Ok, Let’s Teach Math is a podcast created by Dr. Maria Stewart and Dr. Kansas Cole with the goal of bridging theory and practice by inviting teachers from across the state of Oklahoma to share ideas and experiences from their classrooms. Each episode provides a unique opportunity for educators to showcase their innovative methods and insights, fostering a community of like-minded professionals who are eager to learn from one another. In each episode, we work diligently to connect those teaching practices with research, highlighting the latest findings and effective strategies that can be implemented in various learning environments. Our aim is to help our listeners incorporate best practices into their classrooms, empowering them to enhance student engagement and improve learning outcomes while nurturing a supportive atmosphere for both educators and students alike.

Dr. Maria Stewart
Dr. Maria Stewart is a mathematics educator with a Ph.D. in Learning, Teaching, and Curriculum from the University of Missouri, as well as two degrees from Bowling Green State University focused on secondary mathematics education. She is currently an Assistant Professor of Mathematics Education at Oklahoma State University. Previously, she was a high school mathematics teacher in Ohio for three years. Her primary strand of research is focused on understanding the experiences of beginning teachersas they transition into the field of education. Dr. Stewart’s second area of research is focused on learning how teachers develop expertise in and implement ambitious mathematics instruction.
Dr. Kansas Cole
Dr. Kansas Cole is a Teaching Assistant Professor of Mathematics Education. She has a Ph.D. from OSU in Professional Education Studies with an emphasis in K-12 Mathematics Education and Master of Arts in Mathematics Teaching from the University of Texas at Arlington. Dr. Cole has acquired almost 25 years in the field of mathematics education in Oklahoma, Texas, and Arkansas. Through these experiences, she has developed a passion for helping teachers grow in the profession, promoting mathematical discourse, and developing metacognitive thinking in the mathematics classroom.
